Fraction Forge · Blacksmith Workshop
A downloadable game
Welcome to the Fraction Forge!
In this unique educational game, you become a master blacksmith tasked with creating the perfect alloy for legendary swords. But there's a catch—you must estimate fractions visually by selecting the right proportions of metals. No calculators allowed! Just your eye, your intuition, and the forge.
⚔️ Core Concept
Fractions as Physical Proportions
<span <instead="" of="" abstract="" numbers,="" you="" work="" with="" <="" span="">10 segments>span class=""> representing a whole. Each segment you select adds to the total alloy composition. Your goal: match the target alloy recipe by selecting the correct number of segments for each metal.</span>
- 10 segments = 1 whole
- 5 segments = ½
- 3.3 segments ≈ ⅓
- 6.7 segments ≈ ⅔
🔧 How to Play
- Select segments from the metal bars (Iron, Carbon, Nickel)
- Each segment represents 1/10 of the alloy
- Pour your selection into the mould (up to 3 pours)
- Forge the sword when you're confident
- The scale shows you how close your estimate is
- Perfect matches create legendary swords!
🎯 The Challenge
| Level | Metals | Target Recipes | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Iron + Carbon | 3 recipes | Beginner |
| 2 | Iron + Carbon | 3 recipes | Intermediate |
| 3 | Iron + Carbon + Nickel | 4 recipes | Advanced |
📊 Visual Feedback
The Balance Scale
- Left pan = Your selection
- Right pan = Target recipe
- Tilt shows how close you are
The Mould
- Shows the target alloy composition
- Colored sections represent different metals
- Flash effects for success/failure
Pour Dots
- 3 dots = 3 chances to pour
- Each pour adds more metal
- Plan your pours carefully!
