🎮 What is Rail Baron 3D?

Rail Baron 3D puts you in charge of a growing railway company. Lay down tracks (straight, curved, stations), purchase locomotives, and watch them automatically navigate your network.

Every train carries passengers. When it reaches a station, you earn fare revenue. The smarter your layout, the faster money flows – letting you expand further.

This is a pure sandbox tycoon – no levels, no limits. Just you, a grid, and the thrill of building an efficient railway.

• Each train has a state (running, loading, stopped) shown in the fleet panel.
• Unique train colors and a detailed 3D model with headlights, wheels, and cab.

💰 Economy & Progression

• Starting treasury: $50,000.

• Trains earn $500+ per station visit (more passengers = higher payout).

🎥 3D Camera Controls

• Right‑mouse drag – rotate camera.

• Fully 3D with shadows, lighting, and dynamic fog.

• Three speed settings (1×, 2×, 3×) – fast‑forward when your network grows.

🖱️ How to Play

1. Select a tool from the bottom toolbar:
   • ━━ H TRACK / ┃┃ V TRACK / Curves (╔═, ═╗, ╚═, ═╝)
   • 🏛️ STATION ($3,000)
   • 🚂 LOCO ($8,000)
   • ✕ DELETE (free)
2. Left‑click on the grid to place tracks. Hold left mouse and drag to paint multiple tracks quickly.
3. Place a station on a track piece – trains will stop there to earn money.
4. Buy a locomotive and click on any track tile to deploy it.
5. Watch your trains run – they automatically follow curves and stop at stations.
6. Use the speed buttons (▶, ▶▶, ▶▶▶) to control simulation speed.
7. Monitor your fleet in the right panel – see each train’s status (RUNNING / LOADING / HALTED).

🌟 Pro Tips

• Build loops – trains can run continuously without dead‑ends.
• Place stations on straight sections – curves don’t allow station building.
• Multiple trains on the same track will follow each other – they don’t collide (yet) but share the line.
• Delete mode removes tracks or stations (trains must be removed first – planned feature).
• Expand outward – the grid is 22×22 cells; use it all.

🖥️ Technical

• Built with Three.js (WebGL).
• Fully self‑contained HTML/CSS/JS – no external assets except Three.js CDN.
• Works on desktop (recommended) and some high‑end mobile devices (use a mouse for best experience).
• Persistent game state during the session – refresh resets your empire.

🚧 Known Limitations (but still fun)

• Trains don’t collide (they pass through each other).
• No delete for trains yet – restart the page to clear fleet.
• No save/load – but that’s part of the quick‑sandbox charm.
